Today was just an average "Free" day, no lessons or appointments, so Popcorn slept in until 7:30am......
Upon Awakening, the "animals wanted some attention.
After a bit, it was time to make the beds...
Blaine chose to work on his Scripture Memory Work for his first "routine am task." These are cards with Scriptures and Questions about Basic Bible Facts which he is learning daily."I can have a little fun with this!"
Remembering a book about Science Experiments
he had taken out yesterday from the library,
Popcorn next writes his shopping list on the
Black Board for later today.
Basic Hygiene is next...
And then Quiet Time with God.
And by now, he was getting hungry!
So, what's for Breakfast? Popcorn loves to cook, and is quite skilled at making scrambled eggs.
(By the way, Real Men DO wear Aprons, sometimes!)
Let's put some red onions in, and green chopped onions, and a little broccoli for fun.
Toast and eggs a la Popcorn...
Delicious!
and Yes, he Does drink Coffee for Breakfast, one-half a cup with 1 tbsp sugar and 1/2 cup milk in it!
The MD suggested it & it seems to calm him somewhat.
20 minutes of Practice time: for The Piano Lesson (weekly on Thursdays)
Then, after a Play/Activity break,
we Read our History Lesson...
This week we are studying about the life of
Martin Luther and the
Reformation
We recommend this book, ordered from "Focus on the Family.org"
It has Hymns for Kids to learn, the stories behind the Hymns, and
a little history about the Writers of the Hymns.
(Hymns for a Kid's Heart)
We listened to "A Mighty Fortress is our God,"
then watched a 30 minute video on the Life of Martin Luther
(which was checked out from our local library).
Popcorn's cousin, Peyton, is of the Catholic Faith. She gave him this Blue Rosary, and explained that it reminds her to recite the prayers she learned in her church. Blaine has many questions about this object, such as why pray to Mary for intercession, why say so many "Our Father" prayers over and over, why not just talk to God... etc. We have a meaningful discussion addressing each of his concerns. We then put the rosary away in his dresser, and I dust the Living Room while he plans his next free play activity.
He chooses to climb on the walls... Oh well!
Perhaps his nickname should have been the "Spider"
We put our bathing suits on before heading out back for swimming & sunshine...
Before swimming, the vegetable garden gets a drink. I am so pleased that Popcorn is interested in so many of my own hobbies!
Finally, time to jump in the cool water!
The water is cool and refreshing. We play and practice his "strokes" from Swimming Lessons. His favorite is free-style. We dive for rings, make a whirlpool, make a Tsunami, and make lots of waves. I get out to pull a few weeds in the garden, he gets out to slip and slide...
the water from the hose-sprinkler is really COLD!
Rolling down some hills may warm him up, then more swimming, and now it's time to go in to prepare dinner.
Dinner Prep Helper: getting Water to cook some vegetables
Care to play some cards before Daddy gets home?
We eat dinner, have our Nightly "Family Alter" time (devotional), and then...
Brush Teeth...
Daddy reads a story and helps say PM prayers (we call this "Vespers" thanks to cousin Peyton)
and at 8:30 pm time for Snoozing!
