Harding Academy took a field trip to the Arkansas Frontier Farm this past
Thursday. We had a terrific time and learned so much!
Our family has been here already twice in 2008 &2009, so
it was just review for our "Popcorn boy." But believe me, he was NOT bored one bit.
His very favorite part was the mining for gold, and he did it with a vengence!
I loved seeing him with his school buddies.
The School is a
Private Christian Elementary, and faculty and staff are
extraordinary! We love them.
The friendships are Terrific, too!
All of the children got a fair glimpse of life on the frontier. I was glad it was a
bit chilly, so they would learn how difficult it was for the early settlers to
warm their homes, and have hot water for things like wash day, etc.
The kids got to play with toys that frontier kids played with.
Grinding Corn and getting dried corn off the cob was another hands on experience for all.
Popcorn's First Grade Class & Student Teacher, Miss Jackson.
After our search for the perfect pie pumpkin!
This will be a happy memory for all First Graders- each one found at least 2-3 gems in the dirt!
Lunch time was more like exercise time. These tires were irresistable on which to climb and play. |
Andrew takes his turn at scrubbing.
The one room school house was fascinating.
